Village-level disaster management committees have been formed in all 1,405 villages in Pune district. Vitthal Banhode, in-charge of the disaster management control cell of the district collectorate, gave this information while speaking to media persons on Wednesday.
These committees would oversee various disaster management works in the villages. Banhode said the committees would be headed by the village sarpanch and would comprise 12 people from each village.
“The state government had asked the district administration to form the committees. Also, the government had also asked us to prepare a list of various essential services available in villages like hospitals and schools. We have compiled such a list,’’ he said.
Banhode added that the above lists would soon be digitised and put online.
