Dissenting members who stall redevelopment projects should bear in mind the long-term benefits despite hardships faced initially, observed the Bombay High Court while clearing the decks for a project by SD Corporation which has been in limbo since 2007.

A division bench of Justice PB Majmudar and Justice Mridula Bhatkar cleared the way for the redevelopment of Unnati Co-operative Housing Society in Goregaon while dismissing the appeal filed by eight dissenting members.

Asking them to vacate the flats by September 15, the court observed: “One may have to suffer little bit of hardship during the interregnum but in return one may get better accommodation and solve a life-long problem.”
