During the special vehicle registration camp held by the Pune regional transport office (RTO) held over the weekend, 1,068 vehicles were registered, while the RTO collected Rs2.17 crore in revenue.

The camp was held on the eve of Diwali by the RTO for the first time in the city. During the camp, 864 receipts were issued and taxes collected by the RTO.

Regional transport officer Arun Yeola told DNA, “Some dealers had approached us to increase the working hours as this year the government had declared three days of consecutive holidays on account of Diwali. After discussion with my staff, we decided to hold a special camp over the weekend for the convenience of citizens.”

RTO account officer, Harish Borawake said, “On both days we got a good response from citizens.” Registration fees and taxes range from Rs2,500  to Rs1 lakh. Mahesh Ghavate, sales executive of BU Bhandari showroom in Pashan said, “In two days we registered 15 Volkswagen cars.”
