After receiving 91 per cent in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination this year, Akshay Shinde, a resident of Higoli district is now searching for financial help to complete further studies.
Shinde who aims to be an officer in the Education department, needs support from samaritans who are willing to provide financial help.
Shinde, from Makodi village is second topper from his taluka. He is the first child in his family who has completed his SSC degree.
Speaking about his struggle to achieve good score in SSC exam, Shinde said, “I go inside the forest early morning to catch birds. This daily activity helps me earn my family’s living. Despite these daily chores, I used to take out time for my SSC exams studies. I am happy that I scored good marks.”
While Shinde belongs to pardhi community’s tribe which is known to have a criminal background since British era, he wanted to study hard and make his community proud.
“My parents are aged over 50 years now due to which it’s impossible for me to depend on them. I had to start working with whatever petty jobs came on my way. Earlier my father earned money by doing daily wages job but due to drought, he stopped getting daily wages. Later on he started going inside the forest to catch birds for our living. I too started accompanying him. For past two years, everyday, early in the morning I go to forest, spent my day in school and later at night study under a lamp,” said Shinde.
“I sold a bicycle gifted by my friends to buy books and other study material and also to pay fees for my SSC exams,” added Shinde. Without going to any private classes, he scored 99 per cent marks in Maths.
