Sachin Adkar, a student of LLM semester one, finally sighed in relief after receiving his correct answer sheet from the University of Mumbai. In the retrieved answer sheet, he has passed the examination. DNA had reported on August 25, 'Lost in re-evaluation: Mumbai University mixes up sheets'.

Earlier, Adkar was awarded fail marks by the Mumbai University in the LLM semester one examination, in the subject 'Indian constitutional law and new challenges' that was held in January. He was shocked to see the result as he was sure of passing in all subjects. He had cleared rest of the three subjects. He applied for re-evaluation and also a photocopy of his answer sheet.

Surprisingly, he again received a fail result in re-evaluation. He received 27 in re-evaluation which was initially 22. But, shockingly, this was not Adkar's answer sheet. He had answered his paper in Marathi and the photocopy he received was in English. However, his roll number was mentioned on the photocopy which led to the goof-up.

University officials clarified that the reason behind Adkar receiving someone else's answer sheet is because, the person's roll number matched with that of his.

However, after a long wait Adkar was finally handed over his own answer sheet on Wednesday. Adkar said, "I got the answer sheet from the University that I had written in Marathi and it has 50 marks on it. I was sure of passing all the exams and that pushed me to not just apply for a re-evaluation but also for my original answer sheet. The University has now asked me to write an application in which I have requested them to give me my result with due correction and mention everything about my previous re-evaluation marks and the wrong answer sheet that was handed over to me."

MISMANAGEMENT

  • Adkar’s seat number matched with that on re-evaluated answer sheet

  • He had answered in Marathi but the one he received was in English
