To celebrate the 69th Durga Puja this year, the Banga Maitri Sansad (BMS), Santacruz based club, will showcase women power and the contrasts of Indian society.
The theme has been named as "Atmasanmman" or self-respect, this year. The issue will be represented with art installations created by artist Rajesh Buhecha, who had done a similar installation at the last Kalaghoda Festival.
They will also have standees of top Indian women athletes like PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik representing woman power and contrasting the installation, which will talk about the atrocities against women. Mirrors will be used to drive home the message.
Spokesperson of the mandal, said: "At a time when India's women have just brought laurels to the nation from the Rio Olympics, there is yet no sign of the rate of atrocities against women going down. Taking it further on the Motto of 'Atmasanmman', the Durga Puja celebration will also see young guests from local orphanages and Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity, visiting the Durga Puja to enjoy the sumptuous lunch served as Bhog or Prasad."
BMS is one of the oldest socio - cultural organization which conducts Durga Puja and Kali Puja in Mumbai.
