SCMHRD conducted a survey of 250 respondents.

The “happiness quotient” of women in Pune is higher than men, says a recent survey conducted by the city-based Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD).

The ‘Punekar Mood Survey 2011’ was carried out by SCMHRD among more than 250 respondents comprising men and women from upper and upper middle class between age group of 18 and 35 years. Preference was given to those leading an active lifestyle, from higher and middle income group.

Aimed at gaining insights into the mind, body and mood of Punekars, the analysis of the responses from respondents in the survey clearly points that Pune is a city of empowered women who like appreciation, are not comfortable with criticism and find financial independence uplifting.

Unveiling the mood survey at an event held on November 16, 2011, at JW Marriot Convention Centre in Pune, SCMHRD director, KS Subramanian said, “For 95% of women, being independent is uplifting.

Though the city has always been on the forefront when it comes to independence of women, the aspect still remains intact even with the change in demographics.”

The parameters used for the survey were — lifestyle, psychographics and behaviour, habits, mental and physical equilibrium through the day and opportunities in life.

A quantitative survey done through semi-structured questionnaire, data was collected through interviews, which were done face to face, over the phone and online.
