Former IABF secretary Brigader DN Devine Jones passes away

Jones held the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation post from 1976 to 1984 and was a qualified international referee and judge in boxing.

Former secretary of Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) Brigader DN Devine Jones (retd) passed away in Pune today. He was 82.

Jones held the IABF post from 1976 to 1984 and was a qualified international referee and judge in boxing.

A former commandant of Army Physical Training Corp (APTC), Jones was actively involved in the successful conduct of Boxing at the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi.

He had represented India in football in the inaugural Asian Games held in Delhi in 1951.

A sports administrator of repute, he was also appointed as vice-chairman (technical) during the third national games held in Pune in 1994.
