Four men, who fired two rounds of bullet in front of a ladies bar in Belapur, have been arrested by the police from Gujarat. One person was injured in the firing on Monday evening

According to the police, the accused came to Dadar’s Siddhivinayak temple from their native place in Gujarat on Monday. Once they were done with their rituals, they came to the ladies bar in Belapur and started drinking.

“The accused got into a ruckus with another person, Jeevan Deshmukh, outside the bar. One of the accused then pulled out a pistol and tried to scare Deshmukh by firing two rounds of bullet on the ground. Deshmukh suffered minor injuries in the firing,” said Prakash Sonawane, police sub-inspector from Belapur police station.

The accused then fled the spot in their car. “Deshmukh remembered the registration number of their car and later gave it to us. We got to know from that number that the accused were from Gujarat. A team of officials left for Gujarat and arrested one of them. He gave us the details of his associates and we arrested from their residences,” he said.

The arrested men have been identified as Bipin Nayak, 33, Sheilesh Patel, 40, Dinesh Kumar, 59, and Shashikant Yadav, 35. The police team reached Navi Mumbai with the accused on Saturday.
“We have recovered Yadav’s licensed pistol from his possession. It was Yadav who tried to scare Deshmukh firing the bullets and injured him,” he said.

The police have booked the accused under sections 336 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code, sections 3 and 25 of the Indian Arms Act and sections 13 and 5 of the Bombay Police Act. They were produced before the judicial court on Saturday evening.
