An official from Juhu airport agreed that the pilots' presence of mind averted a major mishap.

Thursday's crash revealed how pilots are hard-wired to minimise casualty in case of emergency landings. Captain Pradeep Rajput and co-pilot Marya Zuberi, a resident of Mira Road, ensured that the plane did not crash in a residential area.

An official from Juhu airport agreed that the pilots' presence of mind averted a major mishap. "We are trained in the event of a crash landing to ensure our own safety, followed by that of the aircraft and then the passengers. Equally emphasized is to avert crowded areas and reduce casualties," says Captain Vikrant, a chartered flight pilot, explaining pilot training.
