Here is some good news for Puneites whose monthly budget has been going haywire due to the increase in prices of essential commodities. The rates of vegetables in the wholesale market have gone down by 5-10% and further decline in the rates is expected.

Wholesaler dealer Vilas Bhujbal said the decline in rates is being witnessed due to several factors such as increase in the arrival of fresh stock and less demand. He said the prices will fall more in days to come as there would be even lesser demand with people going out of station due to summer holidays.

The wholesale vegetable market at Gultekdi Market Yard saw the arrival of 150 to 160 truckloads of vegetables on Sunday from Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan and
Andhra Pradesh.

Besides, some 50 to 55 truckloads arrived on Monday. Bhujbal said cluster beans, beans and ladies’ finger would be dearest vegetables this week while pumpkin and tomatoes would be cheapest.
