Govt land encroached in district in Pune: Survey

The district administration ordered the survey in all 14 talukas following a directive from the Bombay high court, which passed interim orders on a writ petition filed by a Pune citizen last month.

An ongoing survey conducted by the Pune district collectorate revealed rampant encroachment on government lands in the district.

Pune district collector Vikas Deshmukh said the last day for submitting the report was Monday, but it has been extended till Wednesday.

Till Tuesday, the collectorate  received feedback from Daund, Baramati and Junnar talukas. The Daund tehsildar reported no encroachments. Most encroachments were reported from Baramati, where agricultural operations had encroached on the banks of water bodies.
