MUMBAI: From Wednesday commuters using the refurbished Mumbai-Pune highway would have to pay a toll.
The 117 km stretch has recently been widened at a cost of Rs 286.5 crore. The state government intends recovering expenses from commuters, according to official sources.
A motorist would have to dole out Rs 65 for the journey between Mumbai and Pune, light commercial vehicles Rs 165, buses and trucks Rs 229 and while multi-axle vehicles will have to pay up Rs 492.
The toll structure will remain intact upto March 2008 and will be revised later for 2008-11, 2011-14 and 2017-2019, they added.
