Govt puts Dawood Ibrahim's property on the block, auction on August 9

One more property belonging to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, the Masulla Building (aka Amina Mansion) at Pakmodia Street, Bhendi Bazaar is all set to go under the hammer. The auction will be held on August 9 by the Ministry of Finance under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA). The reserve price is Rs 79.43 lakh.

A public notice was issued by SAFEMA on Tuesday, where bids have been invited under the act for the sale of total nine properties located in Mumbai, Aurangabad, Valsad, Daman, Surat and Ahmedabad. The owners of the other eight properties are not known. Sources said that notice number one (Masulla Building (CS No 4275) at 24/26 Pakmodia Street and 28/29 Bapty Road, Bhendi Bazaar) belonged to Dawood's family. When contacted, an official from SAFEMA said, "The concerned officer is not at work while the superintendent has gone out. The details are with them."

The Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) is of Rs 25 lakh. The earnest money needs to be deposited by August 6. People interested can bid through all the three mediums, which includes e-auction, public auction, and sealed tenders.
