HC tells Sushmita to pay Rs 2.16 lakh as octroi

The Bombay High Court directed the actor to pay octroi for her Toyota Landcruiser to the municipal corporation in three weeks.

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Friday directed actor Sushmita Sen to pay octroi duty of Rs 2.16 lakh on her Toyota Land Cruiser to the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai within three weeks.
 
The court also directed that as regards the penalty for not paying octroi, which is ten times the octroi amount, the corporation will give a hearing to Sushmita.
 
The court also directed the actor to give a bank guarantee of Rs 10 lakh in favour of the corporation.
 
Sushmita had challenged the levy of octroi and penalty by MCGM in the high court.
