Heavy showers continue to lash Mumbai; trains running late

Heavy rains continued to lash the city for the second day today.

According to the disaster management cell of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Colaba observatory recorded 36.4 mm of rainfall while Santacruz recorded 7.1 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am to 11.30 am.

Water-logging was reported from areas such as Andheri, Jogeshwari, Ghatkopar, Kandivali, Haji Ali, Dadar.

Local trains on both western and central line were running late by at least half hour due to megablock for repair work, but water-logging on railway tracks too was reported from Byculla and CST stations.

Road and air traffic largely remained unaffected, officials said.

No incidents of collapse have been reported yet. The weather bureau has forecast frequent spells of rain through the day.
