MUMBAI: How did the media come to know that TV executive Neeraj Grover's body was cut into 300 pieces, asked accused Kannada actress Marrayya Monica Susayraj's advocate Niteen Pradhan in the Bombay High Court.

Pradhan lawyer of Susayraj a co-accused in the Neeraj Grover murder case contended that part of her confession were already been published selectively in newspapers.

Pradhan on Tuesday submitted to the division bench of the Bombay High Court - Justices Bilal Nazki and Ashutosh Kumbhakoni, a CD of interviews given by Joint Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria to media, in connection with Grover murder case.

Prosecutors Satish Borulkar and Pradeep Hingorani had earlier told the court that confessional statement of an accused could be given to him in accordance with law, at a stage where it did not prejudice further investigation.

But the court said that the investigators have to get the offenders and make sure that no innocent person's image is harmed while investigating any offence.

The court further observed that, "the officer who talks to the media may give selective information and not reveal the entire facts. We first want to watch the CD then hear the matter further on August seven, the judges said.

Susayraj's application states that in accordance with provisions of the Evidence Act, the Criminal procedure Code and the Constitution of India, she is entitled to a copy of her confessional statement.

The sessions court had rejected Susayraj's application for the statement on June 19, following which she moved the High Court.

Susayraj had given her confessional statement to the police on May 28.

Susayraj and her naval officer fiancee Jerome Mathew were arrested in May this year for murdering Neeraj Grover, creative head of TV production house Synergy Adlabs.

The two had allegedly stabbed Grover to death, cut his body into pieces and burnt it at Manor in Thane.
