Yuva Sena, has begun a campaign, ‘Better Campus’, in city colleges demanding better and more hygienic canteens, classrooms and floors.

With DNA’s ‘Hygiene for Kitchens’ campaign creating a buzz in the city, leading political organisations have woken up to the issue.

The youth wing of the Shiv Sena, Yuva Sena, has begun a campaign, ‘Better Campus’, in city colleges demanding better and more hygienic canteens, classrooms and floors.

The charter of students for a better campus, issued by the youth organisation, demanded that the Mumbai University make colleges fall in line. It asked canteen authorities to clearly designate the product, the mrp and the product availability for each day on hold. It demanded a separate cleaning area for utensils and well-kept, regularly emptied dustbins. The staff have been told to wear gloves and hair nets. It has gone after dirty bathrooms and floors as well and has demanded a water purifier at every canteen.

“The demands are basic, yet of paramount importance to each and every student,” said leader Aditya Thackeray.

The Yuva Sena has asked students to approach it in case of lapses on the part of the college authorities.
