6-yr-old boy pays with life for being the only son among nine siblings

Mohammad Ahmed Javed Khan, 27, was an alcoholic and used to beat up his wife, Naseema Khatun, 23. For almost two-and-half-years, Naseema suffered in silence, then, unable to take it any further, she left her husband and returned to her father’s home.

Javed went to meet his father-in-law, Younis Ali Khan, 55, a tailor from Shivaji Nagar, to bring back Naseema. He promised him he would be a “reformed man”, but Younis sent him away, saying he could no longer trust Javed to take care of his daughter.
An enraged Javed decided to take revenge by putting an end to his father-in-law’s lineage. So, he lured away Younis’ only son, Zeeshan, 6, and killed him, smashing his head with a stone. He then hid the body in the mangroves near Mankhurd. This, according to crime branch, was the confession made by Javed, a native from  Baitiya district in Bihar, after they arrested him on Monday for allegedly killing Zeeshan. His body was found in the mangroves on May 28, and the local police was alerted.

Enquiries revealed that on the morning of May 28, Younis had filed a missing complaint about his only son — the youngest of nine — at Shivaji Nagar police station. Soon it was detected that it was Zeeshan’s body, said crime branch sources.

Younis told police that he had last seen Zeeshan with Javed. “Younis had nine children — eight daughters and a boy. Naseema, the eldest daughter, married Javed, who worked as a vendor, two-and-a-half-years ago,” said Rakesh Maria, joint commissioner of police (crime).

“On the morning of May 28, Javed lured away Zeeshan from his home. He took the boy to the mangroves in Mankhurd, where he first throttled him, then smashed his head with a stone,” added Maria.

Javed then fled to Delhi, and finally to his native village, from where he was nabbed on Monday. “He confessed that he had killed Zeeshan to avenge the ‘insult’ by Younis by putting an end to the latter’s lineage,” said Maria. Javed was remanded in police custody till June 7.
