The vital clue that led to the arrest of two persons involved in three sensational bank robberies came from the presence of mind and quick action of two police officials from the Charkop police station.

On Monday, assistant sub inspector BD More and constable Laxman Chauhan were patrolling when a biker passed by. They noticed it had the same number being flashed on the wireless.

Speaking exclusively to DNA, More said, “I tried to get the biker to stop, but he sped away. We noticed that it was Ali who works in a garage near the police station. We got in touch with him, and he told us that the bike had come for repair and belonged to Sonu Yadav”.

More and Chauhan asked Ali to call Yadav to the garage. Yadav came there after two hours. Chauhan said, “When we asked Yadav for the bike’s documents, he started making excuses. We informed our superior officers who found out that the number was a fake.”

After a delay of six hours, when Yadav broke down and confessed to the crime, the two officers accompanied him to his house.

“When our team conducted search at Yadav’s residence, Rs70,000 cash, six pistols, 71 live rounds and the windcheater they used as disguise while executing the robberies, was found,” More said.
