Anil Waral, 30, head of the local unit of Shiv Sena at Colaba, was in his office opposite Nariman House, when he heard gunshots outside. A few of the Shiv Sainiks, fearing gangwar in the area, rushed to find out the source. And upon seeing "some men creating a ruckus inside Nariman House" started pelting stones at them.

"We saw men inside Nariman House and, thinking that they were local goons or drunkards creating a scene, we started hurtling stones at them," said Suhas Waral, a cousin of Anil and a Shiv Sena member too.

The angry terrorists retaliated with grenades. “Some of the stones hit windows and may have hit them too. So the terrorists threw a grenade, which injured about nine people,” said Waral, who sustained injuries on the abdomen and is currently undergoing treatment at JJ Hospital.
