After completing a successful first phase of placements, the Indian Institute of Technology,Bombay(IIT-B) is now getting a lukewarm response from hiring companies in the second leg of placements. As the second phase began from January 20, over 15 offers were made by four firms that visited the institute.
Some of the major companies that recruited from the campus include Edelweiss Finance and Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart. "The second phase seems to be going well with several big companies that were not slotted in the first phase coming to the campus. We are expecting over 50 companies to be a part of the second phase this year" said a member of the institute's placement committee.
While the committee did not divulge any official details on the packages, sources said that the offers were roughly equivalent to a CTC of Rs 26 lakh. The second phase of placements would be on at the institute until June 30 and is expected to bring in jobs across some of the prominent sectors including IT, Finance and a few international software firms. While 911 of the 1,600 students from the institute accepted job offers in the first phase, the remaining are now a part of the second phase.
"It is too early to measure the response received in the second phase as it would be on for the next five months. We are hoping to get some good names and positions in the days to come" said the member.
