Around 4.85 lakh students across the country will appear for the joint entrance exam of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT-JEE) today. Around 21,700 students will appear from Maharashtra alone, out of which 85,200 will be from the Mumbai zone.
The exams will be held across 1,051 centres in 131 cities across the country. There is only a rise of 30,000 students from last year, which amounts to 6.5% growth. For the first time, students will get to see scanned answersheets online after the results
are declared.
With only 9,600 seats available across 15 IITs in the country, around the top 2% students will qualify for the premier institutes. Model solutions of the paper would be put up for students on May 15, said the IIT-JEE website.
