The 785-metre-long Vanjarpatti flyover has been constructed at a cost of Rs62 crore. “One arm of the flyover leads to Nashik highway, while the second arm connects it to Wada in Thane district,” said an official from district collectorate. The flyover is likely to ease traffic movement on the Thane-Wada route.

Fadnavis also laid the foundation of Rajiv Gandhi Chowk flyover which will connect Bhiwandi to Saibaba mandir in Kalyan and will be constructed at a cost of Rs150 core in 30 months. The CM addressed a gathering at Chacha Nehru Hindi High School ground where he announced various initiatives for the progress of the powerloom town of Bhiwandi.

“There is no dearth of funds for development of powerloom town here,” he said. He asked citizens to take ownership and participate in the development of the town.

He said he would direct MMRDA to concretise roads from Anjurphata to Vanjarpatti in Bhiwandi and an additional amount of Rs10 crore will be sanctioned to BJP MLA Mahesh Chougule for internal road repairs in Bhiwandi. “To encourage the powerloom industry, electricity will be made available at subsidised rates,” Fadnavis added.

He also warned stern action against illegal constructions. “While on one hand people are migrating to cities from rural areas, there are illegal structures coming up in the city whom we need to rehabilitate. But this needs to stop and illegal constructions will not be allowed,” he said.
