Indrani Mukerjea

Says she is not mentally or physically fit to fight her case from prison

Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in Sheena Bora murder case, again applied for a bail on Wednesday on the basis of her recent medical reports which suggested 'neurological problem' and a near stroke. Indrani also mentioned in her plea that she would argue on her bail application in person.

According to the prosecution, Indrani, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, and her driver, Shyamvar Rai had allegedly abducted and killed Sheena and later dumped her body in the jungles of Pen in Raigad district in 2012. Peter was also arrested after some time for allegedly playing a role in the crime. Later, Rai, however, turned an approver.

The application reads she is no longer mentally or physically capable of fighting her case from prison. The application reads she is in a fragile condition and needs immediate medication or hospitalisation with the slightest unusual symptom, which is not possible inside the prison.

"I have already shown symptoms secondary to a brain stroke in the last 10 days. Hence, it is crucial that I live in a stress-free environment at home. Also, I have lost 18 kgs and am not able to gain even half a kg, which is also because of the stress," reads her plea.
