MUMBAI: The Met department has sounded a warning that parts of central and south Maharashtra would experience heavy rains in the next 48 hours.
For Mumbai, the prediction is intermittent rains or thundershower—some of them heavy—accompanied by gusty winds.
“We have sent faxes to all important civic and state authorities, who are supposed to take precautionary steps,” said CVV Bhadram, deputy director general, regional Met centre, Colaba.
Moderate to rather heavy rainfall occurred at most places over central and south Maharashtra on Saturday. Bhadram informed that part of Pune, Satara and Sangli could also receive heavy rains in the next 48 hours
