Corporate lawyer and accused in a drink-driving accident Janhavi Gadkar's driving licence has been revoked for life.
On Monday, Wadala Regional Transport Office revoked Gadkar's licence for life — the second instance of her driving permit being revoked.
On September 14 last year, the authorities had revoked her driving licence after having issued her a show cause notice. Thereafter, she had moved court asking RTO at Wadala to reissue the licence as she wasn't proved guilty by the court.
"Driving licence revocation order passed earlier by this office was sent back by Appellate Authority for reconsideration. Wadala RTO has finally re-confirmed its order about revocation. There, driving licence stands revoked from Monday," informed a Wadala RTO official.
Gadkar's lawyers were twice given opportunity to explain their side of the case with regards to her driving licence, but on both the occasions no one turned up, resulting in revoking of driving rights. The authorities cancelled her licence on the basis of her being a dangerous driver.
Last June, she was allegedly driving on the wrong side of Eastern Freeway in an inebriated state which resulted in an accident at Chembur killing two and injuring three others. Currently, she is out on bail since August 5.
