The Andheri Metropolitan Court has rapped comedian and actor Kapil Sharma for not revealing the name of the government servant demanding bribe as alleged by him in his tweet to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on September 9. The Versova police in a fresh court- monitored First Information Report (FIR) booked him for violating environment norms and unauthorised constructions.

Sharma, in his tweet, had alleged that BMC officials had demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to ignore the destruction of mangroves for converting his residence into an office.
Magistrate Amitabh Panchbhai directed the Versova police to register a complaint, investigate the case and submit a report. The magistrate wanted to know who tried to bribe the comedian and ordered the police to investigate the case.

The Versova police booked Sharma was booked under Section 187 (Omission to assist public servants when bound by law to give assistance) of the Indian Penal Code and under Section 52 of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act and under Section 15 of the Environment Protection Act.
