A 15-year-old boy, who ran away from his Delhi home after a fight with his father 22 days ago and later kidnapped by a man in Mumbai, was rescued by a joint team of Tardeo and Delhi police from Haji Ali on Tuesday night.

The police said the boy was loitering alone in Haji Ali area after he managed to escape from the clutches of his kidnapper.

“My son Himash Yadav, a Class IX student, left home on August 2 after he had a fight with me. After he did not return home, I lodged a missing complaint with the Ranhula police in Delhi,” said Dinesh Kumar Yadav (45), a resident of Vikas Nagar in Delhi.

“The kidnapping incident came to light on August 4 when I received a call from an unidentified man claiming that he had kidnapped my son and later disconnected the call. Then I lodged a kidnapping case against the unidentified man,” said Yadav, adding that he received another call from the kidnapper on August 15. The Delhi police traced the call to Mumbai.

The police said Dinesh and the Delhi police team reached Mumbai on August 16.

On Tuesday night, Dinesh received a miss call on his mobile phone. The mobile tower location showed the call came from Haji Ali area. Then the police team rushed to Haji Ali where they found the boy after 30 minutes.

“The boy managed to escape from the clutches of the kidnapper just half an hour ago. The boy told us that the kidnapper was a drug-addict,” said the police.
