A 17-year-old Saki Naka girl died on Tuesday while being taken to the Rajawadi hospital. Her mother alleged that Sunil Chomal, the girl’s employer, could be responsible.
The girl left for work on Saturday but did not return. “I called Chomal who told me that she had left for home,” said the mother.
On Monday, Chomal informed the mother that the girl had phoned him from Ghatkopar (East), saying that she was unwell. Following this, he brought her to his shop.
The mother then took the girl to a doctor. However, she started vomiting as soon as she came home. On Monday night, the mother took the girl to the Rajawadi hospital.
“After medical check-ups, I brought her home Tuesday morning,” said the mother. “However, she started experiencing severe stomachache. I was taking her back to the hospital when she died.”
As per what the girl told her mother, on Saturday she was accosted by a lady, who covered her face with a cloth that made her lose consciousness. She was taken to an unknown location. “My daughter told me that two people gave her injections containing sedatives.”
“The clothes my daughter was wearing when she was found on Monday were different from the ones she had left home in on Saturday,” the mother said, hinting that she may have been abused.
Senior police inspector Samadhan Dhanedhar of the Saki Naka police station said, “We are in the process of booking Chomal for child labour, as the girl was a minor.”
