The Young Change Makers 2.0 / 2011, a conference of school-going children, became a huge success with over 80 schools making presentations and staging 64 street plays giving the message to society to lead a sustainable life.

The programme, held from February 17-19 at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch, was hosted by Neeti Solutions. Dr Parag Mankeekar, an Ashoka Fellow, is the founder of Young Change Makers. Neeti Solutions brought all the schools together to bring about a change by tapping the power of children.

Mankeekar said, “This is a platform created by Neeti Solutions that aims to provide an opportunity to the students, through schools and parental involvement to explore, study and act on urgent environment, social and civic life issues.”

The programme was conducted in two parts, conference and competition. At the conference, 80 schools made PowerPoint presentations on topics related to environment and social issues. This function was inaugurated by Naresh Zurmure, additional municipal commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation.
