A day after advocate Farhana Shah met Pakistani gunman Ajmal Kasab, unidentified persons today pelted stones at the clinic of the lawyer's brother-in-law in south Mumbai.
"Unidentified persons today came outside my office in Grant Road. After seeing the shutter down, they pelted stones at my brother-in-law Akthar Hussain Shah's dental clinic, which is adjacent to my office," Farhana told PTI.
A police complaint has been lodged.
Farhana and another lawyer Amin Solkar were appointed by the Bombay high court last week to defend Kasab, who has been sentenced to death in the 26/11 terror attack case.
The lawyers were appointed following a letter sent by Kasab from the jail to the Legal Aid Services seeking for assistance to file his appeal in the High Court challenging the death penalty awarded to him.
"This is not the first time certain sections of the public have objected to our appointment to defend Kasab. Even Amin received a threatening message directing him to withdraw from the case," Farhana said.
The two lawyers had a 20-minute meeting with Kasab yesterday at the Arthur Road central prison in central Mumbai.
