Navi Mumbaikars with a sweet tooth are in for a big treat, quite literally. Flurys, the iconic cake and confectionery shop in Kolkata’s Park Street, has stepped foot in Navi Mumbai and has opened two new outlets here — in Seawoods Darave and Inorbit mall in Vashi.
Started by Swiss couple Joseph and Frieda Flurys (hence the name) in 1926, the shop is known for its exotic range of cakes, pastries and confectionery, complete with an authentic European taste. It was taken over by the Apeejay Surrendra Group in 1965. The Park Hotels owned by the same group will be the source for Flurys’ kitchen requirements.
Swarup Datta, general manager of The Park Hotel in CBD-Belapur said, “Flurys is an established brand with a great nostalgic recall. After the management changed hands, it had been decided that Flurys’ outlets would be opened in cities where The Park hotel is located. We started our Navi Mumbai operations in 2007, and all facilities necessary for an efficient functioning are available.”
He added that with an outlet in Seawoods, it would be easy for people from Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and beyond to have access to best quality products.
“It is a high-end brand that is a one-stop place for the discerning customer looking for products with world-class quality,” said Datta.
While the outlet in Inorbit mall will be a kiosk sharing seating with the food court, the one in Seawoods will be a standalone shop with a larger space.
The interiors of the two outlets will have a contemporary, European look and feel.
