Lalit Salve will be joining same police station as male constable

However, the home department has considered Salve as a special case and written a letter to reinstate him in the department.

Lalit Salve, who was earlier posted at Majalgaon city police station as a female police constable, will be joining the same police station as a male constable after submitting his medical reports.

According to police, the eligibility criteria for recruiting women and men are different. For example, for male candidates, the required height is 165 cm, for women, it's 161 cm.

However, the home department has considered Salve as a special case and written a letter to reinstate him in the department.

"He will be posted at the Majalgaon city police station, only the name and gender would be changed. Salve can join immediately after submitting the medical certificates and the leaves would be considered as a medial leaves," said Sreedhar Govindrajan, Suprintendent of Police, Beed police station.

"We have not received any communication from Salve yet. However, there would be no issues, he will be reinstated immediately," he added.

Salve's surgeon Dr Rajat Kapoor said, he has give a fitness certificate to him along with the discharge papers. "If the police department need another fitness certificate as per their rule, we are ready to give the same."
