MIAL on Monday shut down the only Left Luggage Centre (LLC) near Sahar airport, leaving transit passengers in the lurch. The LLC at the domestic terminal at Santa Cruz was shut down six months ago, and it was up to the one at Sahar to cater to domestic and international passengers.

“Around 60 passengers come here to keep their luggage with us for some time so that they can move about the city,” said an official who worked at the LLC. “It will inconvenience those who come here and want to kill a few hours before catching another flight. Especially transit passengers flying international routes will have to bear the brunt,” he said.

An MIAL spokesperson said the facility at the international terminal was being closed because terminal 2A had to be vacated for demolition. He had no answer to why no alternative arrangements had been made.
