Mumbai Congress party members have decided to reach out to as many voters in limited time by using outdoor advertisements such hoardings and billboards.
Mumbai is the commercial capital so the campaign message will be related to traders, business and service sector community. According to the senior Congress leader they have identified some strategic locations in Mumbai where their party manifesto and other anti-incumbent government advertisements will be displayed. "We will advertise through hoardings and newspaper ads five to six days before the actual polling. This helps us to connect with people," said Abhijit Sapkal, social media in charge of Maharashtra Congress.
Sapkal further said that the elections campaign advertisements will be in Marathi, Hindi and English. "The advertisement will be displayed as per the demography of that particular location. For instance, in Bandra and South Mumbai, it will be either Marathi or English while in western suburb, it will be in Hindi and Marathi so that all sections of voter can connect to Congress and the NCP.
The Congress and the NCP has jointly designed the ad campaigns and have given more space to local leaders of both parties, informs a Congress leader.
Another leader said that from April 23, the campaign will be more urban centric where the urban issued will be highlighted. "People in cities suffered a lot due to demonetization and GST. Besides, unemployment is also a major issue. Our campaign theme will be 'Laj kasi Vatat nahi' (why is the government not ashamed?) for their failed policies and decisions."
