Pawar family scion Parth Pawar is likely to face the bumpy ride in this Lok Sabha polls in Maval Lok Sabha constituency against the Shiv Sena MP Srirang Barne. Parth Pawar is the son of senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar and grandson NCP supremo Sharad Pawar.
In Maval, there are six state assembly seats that includes Pimpri, Chinchwad, Maval , Karjat, Uran, and Panvel.
Maval Lok Sabha constituency is an urban and rural constituency which witnessed a steady flow of voters in urban areas of Panvel, Khargar and Uran. The non Marathi and minority voters are decisive in this area. Barne is pinning his hopes on Prime Minister Narendra Modi acceptance among Jain and Gujarati voters in the region. These voters from Kharghar and Panvel were seen turning out in large numbers.
"We do not know who is candidate here and not interested to know the name too. We are all voting looking at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We want to see him again as Prime Minister of India," said Bhavesh Shah, resident of Kharghar. While on the other hand, most of the western Maharashtra and migrated rural populations, minority and Dalit voters are preferring Parth Pawar.
However, sources in NCP opine that if the Pimpri Chinchwad gives lead to Parth Pawar, then only, he has chances to come out victorious. "Besides, we are also banking on Karjat where the NCP has got his own MLA out of this six assembly seat. We are hoping the marginal lead in Panvel, Urban and Pimpri Chinchwad and a major lead in Karjat. In Maval, we will not get lead where Sena candidate has an edge. We are hopeful that the rural will cut the lead that the urban voters give to the Sena candidate," added the NCP leader.
