A war of words ensued between Congress' candidate from South Mumbai Milind Deora and his rival from BJP led NDA's candidate Arvind Sawant on social media platforms Facebook and Twitter.

Arvind Sawant had posted pictures of Milind Deora in conversation with MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar at Pedder road citizens forum event. He had captioned it as 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend'. That is clearly the way my worthy opposition thinks....What do you think they are talking about?'

Sawant had posted a picture of a person covered in blood and captioned it, "Victim of coup formed by Milind deora & MNS to attack the NDA candidate from South Mumbai. How did they come with soda bottles and stones in a fully protected & concrete area."

Defending himself, Milind Deora put out a series of tweets that condemned Sawant for putting out lies and negative campaigning against him before the Lok Sabha elections.

Mumbai will go for polling on 24th April 2014 from six constituencies.

He targetted both Shiv Sena and MNS and said, "If making baseless allegations is part of Shivsena-MNS poll strategy, then I shudder at their behaviour in parliament if elected into power."

Milind Deora also stated in a tweet that the date when Arvind Sawant's Facebook post mentions him to be present in the area, he was nowhere near."
