Maharashtra BJP announces new team of officials

State BJP president Nitin Gadkari announced the new team of the party's state-level officials which includes nine vice-presidents, four general secretaries, and nine secretaries.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Friday announced the new team of the party's state-level officials which includes nine vice-presidents, four general secretaries, and nine secretaries.

New faces among the appointees for the three-year term are television actor Smriti Irani, former Joint Commissioner of Police Y C Pawar and fashion designer and social activist Shaina N C.

Haribhau Bagde, Kirit Somaiyya, Vijay Girkar, Harischandra Chavan, Prakash Shendge, Raosaheb Danwe, Pratap Ashar, Y C Pawar and Sambhaji Pawar have been appointed as vice presidents of state BJP unit.

Vinod Tawde, Pasha Patel, Chainsukh Sancheti and Raghunath Kulkarni have been appointed as general secretaries.

The newly-appointed secretaries include Smriti Irani, MP Sanjay Dhotre, Shivajirao Patil, Surendra Mane, Khushal Bopche, Ashok Mankar, Surjitsingh Thakur, Madhukar Kamble and Suhas Farande.

Piyush Goyal has been appointed as the treasurer.

Madhu Chavan and Madhav Bhandari will continue to be the chief spokespersons of the state unit, while Ganesh Hake, Vijay Gavane, Shaina N C and Dayashankar Tiwari have been appointed as regional spokespersons.

Dhananjay Munde has been appointed as president of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (youth wing) while Manisha Chaudhary would head Mahila Morcha (women wing) in the state.

Suresh Patil would continue as political secretary to state BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, and Mukund Kulkarni as office secretary.
