Terming the budget presented by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday as "average", Opposition Leader in Maharashtra Assembly, Eknath Khadse said the government had nothing to offer to the people.
"State's debt will rise to Rs2.53 lakh crore from the present Rs2.28 lakh crore. There is a fiscal deficit of Rs23 thousand crore," Khadse said.
"Government has signed several MoUs, but has made no investments in industrial sector," he said.
The BJP leader also said that the government should have at least made a mention of proposed off-shore statue of King Shivaji in Mumbai.
"From day one of the session, this issue is being discussed, but the government has not made a single provision for it," he said.
He also pointed out that agriculture had seen a negative growth of five per cent.
Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council, Vinod Tawade, also criticised the government and said the government has passed with just "grace marks".
"As there are no elections in near future, it was expected that the government would present an exciting budget but it has not lived up to the expectations of common man," Tawade said.
"One does not see a financial discipline through this budget," he added.
