Maharashtra: Former Home Minister and NCP leader RR Patil critical

Former Maharashtra Home Minister and senior NCP leader R R Patil, who has been undergoing treatment for oral cancer, is in critical condition and on life support, a doctor attending on him said in Mumbai on Monday.

Dr Sanjay Ugemoghe, who is monitoring his treatment in Lilavati Hospital, told reporters that 57-year-old Patil is responding to treatment.

"We are trying our level best to bring him out of it. He is responding to the treatment," he said.

Party leaders Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, Sunil Tatkare, Chhagan Bhujbal were among the visitors to the hospital to inquire about Patil's health.

Patil, the prominent NCP leader from Sangli in western Maharashtra, was operated last December at Breach Candy Hospital and undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital.
