Maharashtra government forms committee to improve mental health facilities

The committee would review four mental hospitals in the state and recommend measures to be taken to improve mental health facilities.

To improve mental health facilities in the state, Maharashtra government today formed a committee.
       
"The committee would review four mental hospitals in the state and recommend measures to be taken to improve mental health facilities," health minister Suresh Shetty said.
       
The Committee would visit Thane, Nagpur, Yerwada and Ratnagiri mental hospitals to check the problems faced by staff and patients, Shetty said. "The committee has given 45 days to prepare a report with recommendations," he said.
       
The committee was formed after Shetty assured the Legislature to improve the mental health facilities in the state. Minister of State for health Fauzia Khan would chair the committee.
