Most of the colleges completed their in-house admissions and confirmed some of the admissions of students from First Merit list before the stay was declared on First Year Degree course admissions.

Government ordered last week the MU to stop the first Year degree courses admissions across in city college, as the state government announced to move Supreme Court to challenge Bombay High Court’s 2017 decision of quashing reservations for students from backward section in minority colleges.

However, today (Friday) Special Leave Petition (SLP) has been filed by the University of Mumbai as well as the Maharashtra State Government in Supreme Court challenging the decision of Bombay High Court.

Dinesh Kamble, Registrar, University of Mumbai said, “The University of Mumbai along as well as the state government has filed SLP in Supreme Court. I am told that hearing may take place on July 2 and the decision may soon be taken on the matter. Right now colleges have been told to not declare second merit list.” After reservation row in minority colleges for first year admissions, colleges decide to wait for further notification MU.
