The health department has decided to suspend erring employees and junior officers, who are not in office during office hours. Senior officials in the health department of the Maharashtra government have a habit of not attending (remaining absent) meetings called by even ministers, leaving office without intimating their superiors and going on tours without required approval.

The health department on Thursday came out with a Government Resolution (GR), underlining these habits. The GR says it is found that there is a tendency among officers at regional and zonal offices of not intimating their superiors before leaving the office. The GR also pointed out that employees are never found in their office during office hours.

The GR has directed all deputy directors and district surgeons to submit a list of irregular employees working under them. They have also been directed to submit a list of employees who do not stay at the headquarters and are missing from office without any prior intimation. The health department has directed concerned deputy directors and district surgeons to take action against such employees within a month after they have been identified. The disciplinary action would also include suspension of the employee.
