92.9% of students from Mumbai who appeared for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams have passed, while the figure for the state stands at 91.46%. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education declared the results of the SSC exams on Monday. The pass percentages for Maharashtra have risen by 3.14% this year.
The SSC board exams were conducted in nine regions: Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nasik, Latur and Konkan.
Statewide, 15.72 lakh students appeared form their SSC exams for the first time, and 14.37 lakh of these passed. The overall pass percentage for the state has gone up this year. Last year, the pass percentage was 88.32%, which has risen to 91.46% this year.
The pass percentage for Mumbai last year was 88.84%; this year it has gone up to 92.90%. The total number of students who gave the SSC exams in Mumbai was 3.26 lakh, of which 3.03 lakh passed.
The number of students from the city scoring 75% and above has also risen this year as compared to last year's figure. 78,477 students scored 75% and above last year, and 85,973 this year. Last year 1.04 lakh students scored between 60% and 74%, this year that number has gone up to 1.06 lakh.
Laxmikant Pandey, Chairman, Mumbai Divisional Board, said, "This year 64% students have scored first class and above in SSC board exams. I congratulate city schools and teachers who took good efforts and brought about this result. The Maharashtra results have also gone up as compared to last five years."
