Major shake-up in Maharashtra police

The Maharashtra government transferred Deputy Inspector General of Police Parambir Singh and Subodh Kumar Jaiswal to the Anti-Terrorism Squad.

MUMBAI: In a major reshuffle of senior Indian Police Service officers to tone up the police setup in the wake of the Mumbai train blasts, the Maharashtra government on Friday transferred Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Parambir Singh and Subodh Kumar Jaiswal to the Anti-Terrorism Squad.
 
Nearly a dozen officers of the rank of DIGs were also transferred.
 
Jaiswal, who probed the multi-crore fake stamps scam, and Parambir Singh, who worked previously as DCP (Mumbai Crime Branch) when underworld activities were at its peak in the late 1990s, will replace DIG Jaijit Singh (shifted as DIG Administration), and P Laxminarayan (who has moved to the Central Bureau of Investigation).
 
DIG Rajneesh Seth will be new Additional CP (Central Region) of Mumbai Police while Additional CP (Economic Offences Wing) KL Bishnoi, who was handling the additional charge of Additional CP (Eastern Region) will now take over the eastern region incharge.
 
DIG Sadanand Date, who was repatriated after a long stint in the CBI's banking and economic offences wing, will take over as Additional CP (EOW) Mumbai Police.
 
DIG V N Koregaonkar will take over as Addl CP (Protection) in Mumbai, replacing Surendra Kumar, who has been shifted to Nagpur as DIG Jails.
 
Additional CP (Nagpur) Dalbir Bharti will be new DIG SRP (Nagpur) while DIG Jails Bhushan Kumar Upadhyaya will be new Additional CP (Nagpur).
 
AS Patil will be DIG Jails (Pune), while DIG (Weights and Measures) Madhav Sanap has been moved to Nashik as DIG (Maharashtra Police Academy).
