Police has detained a man suspected to have killed his girlfriend in Kalwa after she refused to accompany him alone to a temple in Pune.
The victim Aarti Tarude 20, refused to accompany her boyfriend Mahadeo More 21, alone to Tirupati Balaji temple in Pune on July 31. Angry over this Mahadeo allegedly stabbed her to death near the railway tracks between Kalwa and Thane station on Monday, police said.
“We have registered a case of murder against Mahadeo as we suspect he committed the murder,” said senior police inspector Rajendra Kathawate and added that police has detained Mahadeo for questioning and is collecting evidence against him before arresting him.
On Monday Mahadeo informed Thane police that two unidentified persons stabbed his girlfriend to death near the railway tracks. Thane police in turn informed the Kalwa police about the incident.
Police rushed to the spot and took the injured to Thane Civil Hospital. But Aarti who sustained eight stab injuries, succumbed to injuries before admission.
In the course of investigation police found that Mahadeo and Aarti were together for the past two years.
The father of the deceased told the police that they came to know about the affair some eight months back. Since then the parents stopped Aarti from meeting Mahadeo before their marriage.
