MUMBAI: Vasant R Patel, a 70-year-old chartered accountant, died of cardiac arrest in the toilet of Mumbai-bound Rajdhani Express on Friday. Patel was a resident of Walkeshwar.
Around 8.05 am, a passenger told the head TC Vijaykumar Kannan that Patel had gone to toilet half an hour ago, but had not returned. Kannan, with the help of a sanitary worker, broke open the toilet door and found Patel lying unconscious.
Kannan informed the station manager, RPF and GRP personnel at Mumbai Central station. Dr Atul Sharma of Western Railway Health Centre declared Patel dead. Patel’s body was taken to Nair Hospital for post-mortem. The post-mortem report said Patel died due to cardiac arrest.
Senior inspector Bharat Kumar Rane of Mumbai Central Railway police said the body was handed over to Patel’s son Bijal, who came from Pune on being informed, Rane added.
