A man was found murdered at Aarey Milk Colony in Goregaon (East) on Tuesday. The body of the man, believed to be in his early 20s, was found lying near the picnic spot of the colony by the police. It had more than 20 stab wounds and its left ear was cut off.
The police arrived at the spot after a passerby spotted the body and called the control room around 10am. Uttam More, senior police inspector of Aarey Colony police, said, "The body was found lying beside a mango tree on the road behind the picnic spot. The man was wearing red trousers and a white shirt and had a pair of spectacles on. His complexion is fair and is medium built."
More added that the man was repeatedly stabbed near his neck, stomach and face by a sharp weapon. Although the police could not find any substantial evidence at the spot that could help establish his identity, the youth had two rings on his fingers which had the letters S and K engraved on them. He was also found wearing a Fastrack brand wrist watch.
The police believe that the youth belonged to a middle-class family and they are probing a love angle into the incident as the area is frequented by a lot of couples.
"The body is not decomposed. He must have killed on Monday evening or night. We have circulated his photographs across the police stations to establish his identity. The body is kept at Bhagwati Hospital where an autopsy was conducted. The murder could have been committed by more than one person," added More.
The Aarey Colony police has registered a case of murder against unknown person(s).
