A conman, who allegedly befriended rail passengers and robbed them, was caught by the railway police at Borivili on Tuesday.

Zubberbhai Sunsara, a graduate from Gujarat University made easy friends with passengers in air-conditioned compartments of trains with his affable nature and fluent English, and later robbed their laptops and other valuables. Sunsara, who works as a steward in Mumbai was arrested on suspicion when he alighted from an AC chair car compartment of Mumbai Central-bound Shatabdi Express. Two laptops were recovered from him.

“One laptop belongs to Manish Mishra, a salesman working in a multinational company in Mumbai, who was travelling in Jaipur-Bandra Superfast Express on July 14, 2009, when Sunsara befriended with him and later stole his laptop. Mishra had lodged a theft complaint at the Borivili railway police station. He identified his laptop recovered from Sunsara,” said PM Karyakarte, senior PI of Borivili railway police.

Sunsara belongs to Tal village of Banaskanta district in Gujarat, and is married and has two children. He has a case of burglary registered against him at Chapi police station.
